Week of September 22nd

This week we are finishing up graphing on the coordinate plane by  reflecting over the x and y axes. The part A test is planned for Thursday. Thursday’s test will cover all unit 2 material covered up to this point (study guide parts A, B, & F). Students also have two quizzes in their binders that they can use as a review (real numbers & coordinate plane). Their spirals also contain several note pages that are all applicable to Thursday’s test. I will also conduct a mid check on the unit 2 study guide on Thursday. Answers to parts A, B, and F have already been posted for your child's benefit. An answer key to the unit 2 "I Can Statements" will be posted by tomorrow afternoon for those students who are completing these problems for extra practice.

Nine week exams are scheduled for Wednesday, October 1st and Thursday, October 2nd. Language Arts and Science will be on Wednesday and Math and Social Studies will be on Thursday. For 6th grade, these tests will just be chapter/unit tests for the first semester. For math, the test will cover the first part of unit 2 as well as some concepts from unit 1. Students can use their study guides, old quizzes, and old tests to prepare for the exam.

Thursday’s test and next week’s exam will be the last significant opportunities that students will have to bring their grades up. At the end of the grading period, if a child’s average is not 75 or higher they are not considered to be in good academic standing, and they will be placed on academic  watch or academic probation. This could eventually lead to being removed from the AC program. I love my students and want them all to succeed and be successful and remain in my class, so please make sure that they are preparing and getting ready for these last two big assessments at home. Remember the only way to truly study for math is to work out math problems, so have your child utilize some of the sites on this Weebly site.
