The 2nd semester midterm was returned today. Grades have also been posted to Infinite Campus.

This week we are wrapping up and testing Unit 5. The Unit 5 Study Guide is due Tuesday. Students may skip over Part E and #74 for Tuesday. We will revisit these problems after the completion of Milestone's testing. The Unit 5 test will be given on Wednesday.

We will spend Thursday and Friday beginning our geometry unit. Students will discover the area formula for triangles and find the area of composite/complex figures.

On Monday, we will take the quiz that was planned for last Thursday. I had to put the quiz off due to a number of students not demonstrating understanding of the material; therefore I did some reteaching the later part of last week. With this quiz being given only three days before midterms, I am going to count this quiz as the midterm and not require students to take an additional assessment on Thursday. Look for this quiz to come home by the end of the week.

We will spend the remainder of the week learning to identify independent and dependent variables as well as being able to translate back and forth between tables, graphs, and equations. This material comes from Part D of the study guide. Students can also begin completing #'s 65-73 of the study guide. These questions are more open-ended and require students to really apply what has been learned in class.

Sorry for the late post...I was out of the building Monday and Tuesday attending the gifted conference in Athens.

This week we are continuing our study of proportions by using them to solve percent problems. Notes can be found on pages 43-44 of the students' math spirals. Students will also be participating in a couple of hands-on activities to practice this concept.

By the end of this week, students should have parts A and B of the unit 5 study guide completed. A quiz will be given on Friday over these two sections of the study guide.

Midterms are coming up on March 14th and 15th. Math and Social Studies will be given on the 14th, and Science and L.A. will be given on the 15th. More details will come next week as to what will be covered on the test.
