This week we are continuing to engage in activities that will allow students to model and discover the rules for adding and subtracting integers. Once students discover the rules, we will learn a song to aid them in remember the rules. This song can be found under the video's tab. This week students can also begin working on part C of their unit 2 study guide. We will have a quiz over adding and subtracting one day next week, but I will post that day as it get closer.

Let me begin by apologizing for not posting lately. I was out all last week because my son was diagnosed with type 1 juvenile diabetes and was admitted to the hospital. We are now at home adjusting to our new "normal" life so hopefully I can get back on track with posting weekly.
I returned the midterms this week and grades have been posted in Infinite Campus. Overall the grades were very good. Most students scored either an A or B. Students have been asked to bring the test home for parents to see. This week we are finishing graphing on the coordinate plane by reflecting over the x and y axes. A coordinate graphing quiz is planned for Friday. To help prepare, students have many sources of information: pp. 16-21 in their spirals, study guides, midterm, homework and classwork in binder, and the I Can Statements posted here. I have also posted practice questions that were completed in class last week if your child would like to go back through those at home. They have the correct answers in their binders. These are posted under extra practice. Next week, we will be completing some discovery activities that will lead up to students discovering the rules for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing integers. Students will then begin using the rules to solve integer problems. |
