This week we are continuing our study of ratios by specially learning how to calculate and identify unit rates. After participating in teacher led instruction, students will spend the remainder of the week participating in various activities where students will have to apply unit rates to real-world scenarios.

On Wednesday the Unit 4 test was returned. Students were asked to take the test home so you as parents can review the test with them. Thursday and Friday will be spent completing an introductory activity to ratios as the beginning of Unit 5. Students will also work in groups to problem solve using ratios to prepare for next week's lesson on calculating units rates. The Unit 5 study guide will be handed out next week.
Progress reports go home on Wednesday. This average includes the Unit 4 test. This week we are finishing unit 4 and testing. We are completing the unit by learning to solve and write inequalities from word problems. After taking notes, the students will spend the week participating in activities practicing and applying these concepts. I have posted some inequalities extra practice and answers under the extra practice section for students who need additional help at home.
The unit 4 study guide is due Thursday. The study guide should be completed as well as checked using the key posted here to Weebly. The test is scheduled for Friday. We will NOT have a spiral check for this unit. The next spiral check will be at the end of Unit 5. This week we are finishing up one step equations by quizzing on Tuesday. The quiz will be very similar to Part A of the study guide. The remainder of the week will be spent learning how to write and solve inequalities. Notes and examples can be found in the students' spiral notebooks. We will finish up this unit mid week of next week and be ready to test, so students need to stay on top of their study guides. They should steadily be working on them and checking them this week. More test details will be coming soon.
