This week we are taking the Georgia Milestones Test. I will pass out the unit 7 study guide this week and students will be given time in class to work on it. The study guide will be due on Tuesday, May 1st. We will test the unit on Wednesday, the 2nd. Answers can be found here on Weebly.

This week we are continuing Unit 6: Statistics. We are reviewing Measures of Central Tendency and Variation from last week and then moving on representing data in tables and graphs. We are focusing on dot plots, histograms, and box plots. Students will have small amounts of homework each night this week in order to practice these concepts being taught in class. I will pass out the study guide later this week, but it will not be due until after GMAS testing. We will also not test this unit until after Milestone testing.
This week are finishing up and testing Unit 6. The last topic in this unit is finding volume of rectangular prisms with fractional edge lengths. Notes can be found in the students' spirals. The study guide is due Wednesday and we are testing Wednesday. There will not be a spiral check this unit.
After testing, we will cover our last unit before Milestones: Statistics. This unit will focus on gathering, organizing, and analyzing data. Students will learn how to find the mean, median, mode, and range of a set of data. They will also learn how to display data on dot plots, histograms, and box plots. Students will also learn to read and interpret these type of graphs. This week we are continuing Unit 6: Area and Volume that we began a few weeks ago in A squared. This week we are learning how to find the area of composite figures by decomposing polygons into square, rectangles, triangles, and trapezoids. We will spend the last part of the week finding surface area of 3-D figures by using the nets of the figures.
This is a short/quick unit since we have been previewing this unit during A squared. The study guide will go home tomorrow and it will be due middle of next week so we can test hopefully by Wednesday. I will post specific dates as we go through the week. Because of the short timeline, it is imperative that students keep up with the study guide as topics are covered in class. |
