After Monday’s quiz, we will continue to practice simplifying expressions by combining like terms. Simplifying expressions is a topic that students sometimes struggle with; therefore, I have included some extra practice sheets with answers below if your child needs more practice while at home. The study guide will be due on Monday February 1st.. The study guide answers have already been posted to Weebly for your child's use. Please make sure your child has checked their study guide before coming to class on the 1st. Also, please have them mark specific questions that they may have concerns with. We will test on Tuesday the 2nd. I will also conduct a spiral check on the 2nd.

On Friday, I returned the Expressions' Quiz to the students and went over the correct answers. Students were asked to bring the quiz home for their parents to see. This week Infinite Campus will open back up for parents to view student grades. This week students are continuing to simplify expressions by using the distributive property and combining like terms. By the end of the week, students should have completed #'s 1-70 on their unit 3 study guide. A quiz will be given early next week over expressions and the distributive property. In addition to the PowerPoint posted last week, below I am posting another lesson that I will use in class this week.
I have posted some extra evaluating expression problems under study guides/extra practice in preparation for Tuesday's quiz.
Wednesday, I returned the semester exam. We went over all of the correct answers in class, and students were asked to bring the test home for you to see. Instructionally, we are continuing with unit 3 by evaluating expressions. We will continue to practice this concept through Monday and then quiz on Tuesday, the 12th. We will then move to using the distributive property to simplify expressions. Below, I am including the PowerPoint for this lesson. We will finish unit 3 in the next couple of weeks, so please help monitor your child to make sure they are keeping up-to-date with their study guide.
