Due to a previously scheduled meeting, tutoring will be on Thursday this week instead of Wednesday.
Today I returned the exponent and Order of Operation’s quiz that was given last week. Students were given all of the correct answers and were given the opportunity to have any questions answered. In class we are translating verbal phrases to algebraic expressions. We will continue to practice this concept this week as well as continue reviewing how to identify terms, constants, and coefficients. I have a mini test planned for Friday. This test will cover all concepts covered so far in unit 3. Please help me to encourage your child to practice problems each night so they will be successful on Friday’s test. I have also posted answers to the study guide which coincide with the topics being tested on Friday.

This week we are continuing to simplify expressions by using the order of operations (GEMDAS). A quiz is planned for Friday. We will then learn to identify parts of an expression (constant, term, coefficient, etc.). Please make sure that your child has begun working on their unit 3 study guide. By Wednesday, students should be able to complete parts A and B to help them prepare for Friday's quiz.
Today I returned the unit 2b test. I was very pleased with the overall grades! J The students have been asked to bring their tests home this evening for you to see and go over. We have officially begun unit 3. Today students added to their spirals to note the beginning of a new unit. This week I am reviewing the basics of exponents taught last year and introducing students to exponents with negative bases. For the remainder of the week, we will continue to review exponents as well as review and practice simplifying expressions containing negative numbers by using the order of operations. The unit 3 study guide will go home by the end of the week and will also be posted here to Weebly.
